🙅 What Splotchy collects
Nothing. Splotchy has no accounts, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no in-app purchases. It does not send any data to us or to anyone else.
📱 What stays on your device
- Wallpapers your child makes, kept in the app's own "My Walls" gallery.
- The child's first name (optional), used only so Splotchy can say hello.
- Stars, streaks, badges, prizes and settings.
All of this stays on the device and is deleted when you delete the app.
🔑 Permissions Splotchy may ask for
- Photos (add only): to save finished wallpapers to your photo library. Splotchy cannot read your existing photos this way.
- Photo picker: in Scrapbook, your child can choose photos with Apple's picker. Only the photos they pick are used, and only on the device.
- Camera: only when your child taps Camera in Scrapbook.
- Microphone and speech recognition: only while the "Hold & talk" button is held, to turn spoken ideas into text. Recognition runs on the device when the iPhone supports it.
- Notifications: off by default. A grown-up can turn on one daily challenge reminder from the Grown-ups screen.
💭 Imagine (AI pictures)
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Splotchy's Imagine mode uses Apple's on-device image generator, with Apple's built-in safety filters. Ideas and pictures are processed on the device and are not sent to Splotchy. Other iPhones use an offline emoji version.
🔒 Grown-up controls
Sharing, deleting wallpapers and the settings screen are behind a grown-up check. Splotchy has no links to websites and no social features.
🧒 Children's privacy
Splotchy is designed for children and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by not collecting any personal information.
